Found Treasures

During our week of mad spring cleaning, I found this album I did 6 years ago. I surprised my husband with a trip for just the two of us to the Bahamas for his 40th birthday. The weather was less than ideal. It was chilly and very windy. We didn't get to do much swimming or snorkeling as hoped for but it was a nice, relaxing getaway.

I think this might have been one of my first albums I did with all matching papers & embellishments. I loved the end result of it. It flows so nicely having all the same papers. Something else I tried for the first time in this album was 12 x 12 photo backgrounds using my own photos from the trip. I used them as divider pages in between pages. They all included a 4x6 photo with a white border. The titles I did with Making Memories chipboard letter painted white and tied with twine; I also used smaller white Making Memories rub on letters.

The 12x12 photos were very expensive. I took my photos to Ritz Camera for the enlargements. I needed to get them blown up to 13 x 17 size, each one was $13.95 and I had 8 different ones. Because I was using them as backgrounds I used some abstract photos like this one of the surf hitting the sand. Seeing the end result it makes sense but I would have loved to have heard what the photo developers said when they printed the photos. I just imagined them going, "Who'd want a 13 x 17 photo of this?!?!"
Needless to say because of the cost I haven't done another album with them but in this one I absolutely love the look.

Wooden tag with Making Memories rub on letters; border is patterned paper on chipboard pieces and then inked
The above photo was my favorite from the trip. I wanted to showcase it in a special way so I chose to make a border to surround it with chipboard pieces. I glued patterned paper onto chipboard, cut them into different size rectangles and inked the edges of each with turquoise ink.

Above is my title page for my album. I took a 8 x 10 photo, trimmed it down a bit and then cut it into photo strips.

Little details right page; Chipboard coin holders by Pine Cone Press

The 2 pages above are actually side by side pages in the album. For me, the memories lie in the little details. I loved how the coin holder mat really brings focus to the details in them.
